Community Health Workers Symposium
A platform for CHWs at Tanzania Health Summit
In collaboration with D-Tree
The Community Health Workers (CHW) are the front-line health workers for millions of Tanzanians. They are indispensable for effective, strong public and primary healthcare systems which are provided all over the country. Despite their profound responsibility for the health and well-being of our communities, they are not always given the needed attention and acknowledgment.
CHW gathers invaluable insights into the functional health system at the community level. Their unparalleled views on the challenges of community healthcare, and its potential solution, need to be heard to drive required innovative solutions and change of policy at the health system level.
Why CHW symposium is important?
For too long, meeting discussion about community health workers have been taking place in the absence of CHWs in the room. It’s time to change. Tanzania Health Summit collaboration with D-tree – Tanzania is proud to launch the seconf Community Health Workers symposium that will raise their collective voice and visibility. it also seeks to empower CHWs, many of them female, with the tolls, knowledge skills, and opportunity to advocate for their work.
By listening to the challenges that they face and their articulation of what they need, we will be better informed to support them. THS believes it is critical to make the concerns of the CHWs high priority on policy agendas – at every level that will drive change and therefore adequately support the health of their surrounding communities.
