Dr. Chakou H. Tindwa is a seasoned entrepreneur, investor, and healthcare leader, having founded multiple companies, including Tindwa Medical and Health Services Ltd, Caliber Logistics Ltd, Supreme Health Services Ltd, Envimpact Energy and Minerals Ltd, and Tanzania Health Summit. With over 10 years of experience in East Africa’s public and private sectors, he has built a strong presence in healthcare, logistics, energy, and research.

He currently serves as the Chairman of Tanzania Health Summit and was formerly a Senior Clinical Oncologist at Ocean Road Cancer Institute. He holds a Doctor of Medicine (UDSM), a Master of Medicine in Clinical Oncology (MUHAS), an MBA in Finance (UDSM), an MPH in Global Health (University of Manchester-UK), and an MSc in Project Management, Monitoring & Evaluation (MUHAS).

Throughout his career, Dr. Chakou has received numerous international awards, including the Good Leadership Award, the Avon Global Breast Cancer Scholars Award, and the International Development Award. He has also participated in multiple international short courses and clinical apprenticeships, notably at NY
Presbyterian Hospital and Iowa University Hospital in the USA.

An active member of MAT,  ASCO, ESMO, AORTIC, and EACR, Dr. Chakou has cultivated expertise in leadership, project management, financial analysis, and research. His influence extends beyond medicine, shaping key industries through board memberships, directorial roles, and strategic decision-making.

Dr. Omary Mussa Chillo

Dr. Omary Mussa Chillo is the President and Co-Founder of the Tanzania Health Summit (THS), where he also serves as a Board Member and Chairman of the Executive Committee. Under his visionary leadership, THS has grown into a premier platform for advancing health dialogue, fostering collaboration between public and private sectors, and driving transformative healthcare solutions in Tanzania. 

Dr. Chillo is a Medical Physiologist and an accomplished cardiovascular researcher. He currently serves as the lecturer at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), where he plays a key role in academic leadership and scientific mentorship. His research interests focus on cardiovascular health and disease prevention in low-resource settings. 

He holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and a PhD in Cardiovascular Science from the University of Munich, Germany, as well as a Master’s degree in Leadership and Management with a specialization in Organizational Leadership from Mzumbe University. 

Beyond THS and MUHAS, Dr. Chillo actively contributes to governance and development in health and community empowerment through various board roles. He is a Member of the Board of Directors at Hand in Hand Eastern Africa – Tanzania, supporting efforts to lift communities out of poverty through entrepreneurship and enterprise development. He also serves as a Member of the Governing Board at St. Joseph University College of Health and Allied Sciences, where he helps steer strategic decisions that shape the institution’s academic and developmental growth. 

Dr. Samuel Ogillo

Dr. Samuel Ogillo is the Chief Executive Officer of APHFTA, an umbrella organization representing over 900 private healthcare facilities in Tanzania. A strong advocate for Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) in health, he has played a pivotal role in fostering investments in the East African health sector. His contributions extend to policy and strategy formulation, having served on various committees at Tanzania’s Ministry of Health and across the East African region, as well as participating in several WHO consultative forums.

Under his leadership at APHFTA, Dr. Ogillo has spearheaded numerous innovative health programs focused on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Non-Communicable Diseases, healthcare quality improvement, medical conferences, and access to finance for private healthcare providers. He was instrumental in founding Afya Microfinance, a pioneering financial institution supporting healthcare investments in Tanzania, and the Tanzania Professional Development and Research Institute.

Before joining APHFTA, Dr. Ogillo spent a decade working across Tanzania, Kenya, and Sudan, where he helped establish and supervise primary healthcare facilities in both emergency and non-emergency settings, managing healthcare programs at local and national levels. His work continues to shape the private healthcare landscape, driving quality, accessibility, and sustainability in the region.

Dr. Grace Magembe

Dr. Grace Elias Magembe is a distinguished public health professional, currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer at the Ministry of Health in Tanzania, with extensive experience in healthcare leadership and policy development.  

Prior to her current role, Dr. Magembe held several significant positions, including Deputy Permanent Secretary in the President’s Office for Regional Administration and Local Governments, and Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health. Her international experience includes serving as a Consultant for the Commission on Information and Accountability for Women’s and Children’s Health at the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva. ​ 

Dr. Magembe has also contributed to academia and research, with publications focusing on public health issues such as cholera mortality during urban epidemics. She is an active member of professional bodies including the Medical Women Association of Tanzania and the Medical Association of Tanzania.  

Dr. Jeremie Zoungrana

Dr. Jérémie Zoungrana is a seasoned health sociologist and program management specialist with over 20 years of leadership in advancing public health across sub-Saharan Africa. He brings vast expertise in managing complex, multi-country programs in family planning, reproductive health, maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH), HIV, and community health, across both public and private sectors. 

Jérémie currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of TANG Z Entreprise, operating across Dubai and Burkina Faso. He served as Director of the Nigeria Country Office at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, leading the Foundation’s strategic programming, stakeholder engagement, and impact across Nigeria. In this role, he oversaw operations, talent development, and partnership building at the highest levels of government and the global health community. 

Previously, Jérémie held multiple senior leadership roles at Jhpiego, including Country Director for Tanzania, Burkina Faso, and Rwanda, as well as regional program manager for multiple West African countries including Cameroon, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, and Togo. Notably, as Country Director in Tanzania, he led a portfolio of over $75 million and managed more than 600 staff, overseeing national programs funded by USAID, PMI, and other major donors. 

His public health journey began in Burkina Faso, where he worked in the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs as a child protection and family promotion officer, and later with Handicap International on mental health programs. 

Jérémie holds a Master’s degree in Sociology from the University of Ouagadougou and both a Master’s and a PhD in Business Research from Monarch Business School, Switzerland. 

Dr. Ntuli Angyelile Kapologwe

Dr. Ntuli Angyelile Kapologwe is the Director General of the East, Central, and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC), an intergovernmental organization spanning 26 African countries. He is a distinguished healthcare leader with extensive expertise in health systems management, reproductive health, health financing, and public and international health.

With over 19 years of experience, Dr. Kapologwe has held key positions in Tanzania’s health sector, including Director of Preventive Health at the Ministry of Health and Director of Health, Social Welfare, and Nutrition Services at the President’s Office Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG). He has also served as a District Medical Officer and Regional Medical Officer, contributing significantly to healthcare delivery at various levels.

Throughout his career, he has led transformative health initiatives, including overseeing the construction of over 3,800 primary healthcare facilities, implementing the m-mama emergency transport program which has facilitated 123,484 emergency interventions and saved over 6,074 lives and spearheading the establishment of a nationwide Community Health Worker program, aiming to recruit 137,294 workers.

A thought leader in health policy, Dr. Kapologwe was a Core Technical Team member for Tanzania’s Vision 2050, contributing to its strategic framework. He is also a prolific scholar, having authored over 140 scientific articles and co-edited two books on Primary Health Care.

In recognition of his impact, Serengeti Bytes Magazine named Dr. Kapologwe among Tanzania’s 100 Change Makers of 2023 and 2024, solidifying his reputation as a visionary leader dedicated to strengthening healthcare systems across Africa.

Dr. Thomson X. A. Ananth

Dr. T. X. A. Ananth serves as the President of the University Council at St. Joseph University In Tanzania (SJUIT). In this capacity, he leads the university’s highest governing body, overseeing strategic decisions and ensuring the institution’s alignment with its mission and objectives. ​  

Beyond his role at SJUIT, Dr. Ananth holds prominent positions in the governance of other educational institutions in Africa. He is the President of the University Councils for universities in Tanzania, Zambia, and Malawi, reflecting his extensive involvement in higher education leadership across the region.  

Dr. T. X. A. Ananth joined DMI-St John the Baptist University I Malawi  as the Director of International Operations, leading the expansion of Science and Engineering programs into Tanzania and across Africa, later extending into Health and Allied Programs. He has played a key role in establishing strong ties with top politicians and bureaucrats, furthering the growth of education across the continent.

Dolorosa Duncan

Dolorosa Duncan is currently serving as the Regional Director External Affairs and Country Engagement at m-mama, where she has played a pivotal role in expanding the organization’s grassroots initiative into a nationally recognized referral and emergency transportation system.

In her previous roles, Dolorosa has accumulated extensive experience in the development sector. She served as the Country Director at Girl Effect, Senior Program Officer at the Embassy of Switzerland, and Regional Manager at Pathfinder International. She also worked as the Microbicides Gel Research Lead at AMREF Health Africa and was the Co-founder of Tandabui Health Access Tanzania. Additionally, Dolorosa served as the Coordinator for the Mobile Street Children Arts Against AIDS program at the Dogodogo Centre Street Children Trust, where she focused on supporting vulnerable street children.

Throughout her career, Dolorosa has been recognized for her leadership and impact, receiving accolades such as being named a 2017 EF Fellow, where she led the Tanzania chapter, and an Emerging Voice for Global Health in 2016. She holds a Master of Science in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and is an alumna of Africa University, where she continues to advocate for underprivileged students through scholarships.

Alongside her professional work, Dolorosa is the Co-founder of Creative Mind and Talents, an initiative designed to empower children by discovering and nurturing their talents, and Co-founder of Women for Change, a community driven initiative focused on empowering women to drive social impact. With her extensive experience in strategic planning, program development, and resource mobilization, Dolorosa continues to make a lasting impact on the communities she serves.
